In the last post I included a bit about my 93 year old brother and the book he wrote.  Now our youngest cousin reminds me of her wish to have a copy of the book.  And as I write I received  a telephone call from another cousin who visited John recently. The cousin told  tell me  he would like to have a copy or two of the book.

The last time I visited John he gave me a box with his last 32 copies of books in it. He instructed me to sell them at ten dollars a copy. He agreed that I should use the money to help finance my website.  So as long as they last I will send the book to those who donate ten dollars or more through the Paypal donate button on my website.

This comes at an appropriate time.  I founded  www.oldmennofools.com in March of 2012    I paid for instruction by my webmaster, a service which I desperately needed to post my first blog.   Since then I have posted 210 blogs.  Donations have kept up with costs until this month.  So now I am calling attention this way to donate to the Old Fool’s Ministry.

From the months of March to December I paid all expenses.  However, as the number of visitors to the site slowly increases the cost creeps up.  (The webmaster is a contributer)  Three hundred eighty one is the largest number of visits on one day.  Two hundred and thirty four is the average number of  daily number of visits in April.  The posts most frequently visited were “My Faith Pilgrimage,”  highlights: “A Path to Transition,”  “Truth in Myth,”  “Wedding Anniversary,”  and  “Public Hope.”

This encourages me.  Visits are generated through Facebook, the weekly note to subscribers, and the search engines that scour the internet for information.  My goals are to provide a place for friendly discussion of opposing views,  to share my life and aging faith, and to guide to the life and ministry of Jesus.

Family and friends know that my brother and I have chosen to walk different paths in life. We don’t judge each other.  His book titled “Me, the Musings of a Dirty Old Man” is the short story of his life as he experienced it. When I told him that he could have left “dirty” out of the title, he told me that he could not do that and be honest.  I consider his book to be a  good humored confession.

I will gladly send a copy of the book to all who send ten dollars or more through Paypal as long as the supply lasts.  You are not buying a book, you are making a donation to support the Old Fool’s ministry through his website www.oldmennofools.com

About Martin Lehman

I was born 92 years ago, the son of a Mennonite pastor and organic gardener in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. At age 10 I was baptized as a member of the Marion Mennonite Church. I own the "Old Fool" moniker because I want to walk the Jesus Way even though the world and much of the church takes me as a fool for doing so. In my life I have moved from being a young conservative to an elderly radical. I tell that story in My Faith Journey posted on my website.
